Mosquito Beads are just what the name says. Small dry biodegradable beads made from corn, with essential oils mixed in. They come in a jar. You open it and pour them on the ground where you sit. That is the whole product. Nothing to charge. Nothing to light. No cartridges to refill. Nothing on your skin.
A spray protects one person. A candle protects one table. One 18 oz jar of Mosquito Beads poured on the ground covers up to 1,000 square feet.
That is a deck 20 feet by 50 feet. Or a patio 25 feet by 40 feet, with room left for the fire pit.
And you pick the shape. A device makes one fixed circle, even if your yard is not a circle. You pour beads where you sit, so the coverage fits your space. Down the long side of a narrow deck. Around the ring of chairs. Along the rail.
Six essential oils do the work. Geraniol at 1.75 percent, plus eugenol, peppermint, citronella, cornmint, and rosemary at 0.25 percent each. The corn beads carry the oils and hide the scent that draws mosquitoes to people. Peak performance is on days 1 and 2, so you are not lighting anything at dusk or spraying again every hour.
Three ways to use them
- On the ground. Pour the beads where you sit. This is the method that gives you the full coverage area. It's what we suggest for best results.
- In the open jar. Take the lid off and set the jar nearby. Good for a tabletop, a porch rail, or anywhere you would rather not have beads underfoot.
- In a mesh bag. Pour beads in and clip it to your clothing or a chair. This is the one that travels: the sidelines, the walk to the dock, the stretch between the car and the campsite.
And yes, citronella is in here, at a quarter of a percent, one of six oils. The oil was never the problem. Burning it one wick at a time was.

Mosquito Beads mask the human scent mosquitoes are attracted to (you). Mosquitoes fly by instead of finding you. Mosquitoes hunt by scent. They pick up the smell of a person from a distance and follow it in. Mosquito Beads works on that trail rather than on you. Mosquito Beads scent releases into the air and mask the human scent, so mosquitoes never lock on and keep moving. Nothing goes on your skin, because the beads are not trying to make you unappealing. They are making you hard to find. Each bead is infused with a natural blend of six essential oils. The scent masks the human cues mosquitoes track — so they simply buzz on by instead of finding you.
How do I use them?
1) Pour Mosquito Beads on the ground around you; where you're sitting, dining or hanging outdoors. 2) Open the jar and set it on the table or pour beads into bowls around your patio. 3) Pour beads into our mesh bag. This is not the most effective way to repel but offers some protection through the release of scent coming out of the mesh material. That's it — nothing to spray, light, or plug in.
How long does a pour last?
Sprinkled on the ground, the beads hit peak performance on days 1–2 and gradually lessen through days 3–5. Give the closed jar a shake to reactivate the scent, and refresh the pour to keep your bug-free zone going. Sealed in the jar, the scent stays stable for months.
How much area does one jar cover?

Is it safe and natural?
Yes. The formula is natural, DEET-free and fully biodegradable, made in the USA. Rain and heavy dew won't wash the scent away.
Does rain or morning dew wash the scent away?
No. Rain and heavy dew have no effect on the scent-infused beads — it's exposure to open air that gradually lessens the scent over a few days, not moisture.
What if my dog or cat eats them?
Pets typically avoid them — the citrusy, herbal scent is a natural deterrent and the taste stops a curious nibble. They're made from natural essential oils, but as with anything, keep them out of reach of pets and children.
Will the beads make a surface slippery?
They can. The beads shift if you step on them, so we don't recommend sprinkling them on hard surfaces if you have concerns for slips and falls. Best on grass, mulch, soil, or in an open dish.
